Spice of Life

Everything inter-related
speaking from a wider view
Talks of all the similarities
the differences
the unique individual natures
Ah, the spice of Life…!

Bringing Peace

Once, years ago,
on a far off tropical isle
in a forest ranger building
built high up in trees
so wild pigs would not disturb
The woman who brings peace
foretold in name by her grandmother
was born by her mother
witnessed by her father
The soft island breezes
brought a friend and a stranger
women guided like the wise men
to see this gift to the world
She was destined
by the moon and stars
and cradled by the earth itself
Focus

Focus

Focus of the Cat Hunting

I do my best work when I maintain the focus of the cat hunting.  Never let your sight stray from the goal…

Favorite Shadow

He wrestled with
his favorite shadow
Tenaciously chomping
his chops
Until they were both
simply worn out
And fell asleep
peaceful as babes

Seed of Life

One thing
that always comes up
Is the little seed of Life
within each moment
Each situation
Each eternity…

Hello Hawk

Hawk ducked under
the low trees in the backyard
To do a little dance
and say hello
Ruffle the feathers, turn around
shake the tail, bow and dip
stare for a bit and turn again
Hawk says “hi’

then soars again

Inscrutable Scrutiny

Raptors alike

My heart beats

like a mother drum

in the shadow

of the inscrutable

scrutiny

I love working in these media as there is such depth to the color and the layers of richness. Also, the detail possible can be stunning. I was first introduced to them when scrutinizing the work of Susan Boulet. They seem to have been her most favored media. I find myself lapsing into their use every now and again, and honoring her Shaman Spirit with my own.
