Engaged in each nuance
of the present moment

Temporary
illusive
the only constant change
yet still
we try to grab on
make it last
make it stay
record it for posterity
Only love endures
only one is ever
always
Now
rain washes
the rain
washes
nourishes
embraces
tickles
pummels
traces the edges
ready rivulets
down my cheeks

may as well go for it
immerse in the miracle of it
swim in the stuff of it
dive in the thrill of it
float with the flow of it
What a gift!
Wet, wild, wonderful life

Past Moment
You were there
on the stoop by the laundry line
grinning with accomplishment
resting for a moment
on the bubble of completion
just before stepping out
in new directions…
For me, there will always be
that moment
even though trillions of moments
have been each relished
in their own right
