Can the heart hold any more?
So much love, so much joy
connections, re-connections
family spirit to Spirit
Friends old and just met
the splendor of nature at dawn
the cracking open heart
• • •
A touchstone experience
The heart’s reminder
penetrating, concentrated joy
feeds the soul in years to come
a lifetime of preciousness
Sunlight trickled through the trees
tumbled lightly onto me
caressed my cheek with warmth
dappled my thoughts and senses
Awakened sparks in dewy moisture
left behind by sprinkler’s grace
and in steamy tears on my face
Remnants of joy’s expression
tattooing the cheeks
staccato rivulets
And, all the while, my spirit soared
brilliance conquers in dabs and shifts
until tickled trees dance laughing
Hair flying, wild as crows at twilight
children alive and adventurous
played soccer with no rules
Every part of their mustang spirits
leapt over ravines of ignorance
mottled the field with
a compelling variety of life’s expression

Run wild for the exhilaration
Seek joy with open arms
Keep peace within the pounding heart
And, know that you are loved
The toughest part
of soft velvet nights
when stars multiply
the senses?
The awe burgeons
chest feels as if
it will explode and
cry forever in spicy joy
Can taste buds ever forgive
sweet yearning curls?
as one more baby arrives?
yet another fragile blossom unfurls?
Courageous love rears
and stands confident amongst the stars
