Lean on the Ancestors
Times like these
when the air gets heavy
And even the words are slow
it is good to lean on the ancestors
Let the wisdom and the foibles
siphoned and filtered
through ages of hopes
and dreams and prayers
Rise up through our roots
to nourish our human beingness
Firmly rooted, we have the strength
to be flexible and bend
with the winds of change
to grow closer to the stars
Birth
I dreamed I was giving birth
this ancient body fecund
With possibilities and galaxies
endless in their beauty
And here in this instant
stars and moons
lovely planets escaped my womb
And the cry of infinite life
pierced the wind-screaming
A call of blessing
Sunrise of Life
Seldom seen and often heard
My heart’s dreams
rose up like daffodils
at the sunrise of my life
It was ever surprising
on this most auspicious day
in a very ordinary kind of way
A once-in-a-lifetime occurrance
each new day
Huzzah!
Cartoon Car
I used to zip around
in my little red cartoon car
Flinging all my passengers
as I flitted here and there
Flirting with exciting adventure
I gave my dreams a ride
Anticipation of sights unknown
would thrill up in my gut
Each new twist and turn
on the road of Life
Want a ride?
Beep, beep…!
