Cloud Faces

Have you ever noticed the ants and bugs
leading their busy lives,
just below the grass?
Or, the way the clouds adjust
their faces above, ad infinitum…
while playful breezes wiggle
the little hairs on your head?
———————————————-
It takes time and a bright day
so, perhaps, in this grey wet
It’s time to squish bare toes
in soggy leaves and mud, instead…

Wild Turkeys

This time of year
the wild turkeys come to town
Gathered round
on lawns and in parking lots
Just being friendly
in a turkey kind of way
Look! There goes a flock now…
Did someone tell them
We’re not allowed to hunt in town?
Gobble, gobble…

Nature’s Gifts

Barefeet cuddled and softly cushioned
by mounds of wooly thyme
Sweet jasmine curls around the nose
on soft perfumed breezes climb
That was then and this is now
the leaves all oranges and reds
And mums bright bouquets
with sharper smell
show off their fancy heads
Spring or fall, it matters not
summer or winter, too
Nature’s gifts are here for us
so just take off your shoes

Guiding Hawk

Hawk sat there in the small tree
squawking at me, low and near
Calling to my senses awakening
“This way, come this way,”he said
with his actions and his stance
Leaving perch with flutter and squawk
he led me to my inner knowing
As he headed east in guiding bursts
blazed the path to heart’s destination
in the wilderness, the middle of nowhere
Through desolation and unknown feelings
to a place where light and belonging merged

Turtle Buffet

Turtle Buffet

Turtle mused on flowers fancy
“Oh, what a sumptous lunch,” thought he

Then sniffed the air, the perfumed aroma
considered sweet delicacies for free

One step he took in anxious excitement
and another, he took in hyper speed

Perambulating in hurried fashion
to the buffet garden with turtle glee

————————————————-

Now, you and I might smell the flowers
and enjoy the beauty that we see

Turtle, however, munched them with fervor
and partook of their beauty delightedly
