Bear stood staunch and stoic
anchored like a boulder
midstream at the top of rushing minor waterfall
leaning into all the river pushing against her
massaging her backside
She waited
with absolute faith
knowingness
and joyous anticipation
until glittering salmon
jumped into her paws and mouth
(No mental gyrations about self-worth and deservedness here…)
Sometimes once….
Just isn’t good enough
As beauteous and wonderful
as it may well be
Or, perhaps, it reflects
lavish playfulness
Either way
the multitude of birds
in the almond trees…
or the blanket of daffodils
on the side of the road…
Feasts for my eyes
and heart with awe
“Aw nuts!” cried squirrel
as he rolled over
in the midst of a long late winter’s nap
And he smiled with all he had
at the very thought…
Songbird whistles
through his day
With a light step
and a joyous heart
The lift under his wings
Provided by the lavish abundance
of love and light in his life
Whistle On!
Full of it, little bug
stuck out his chest
As he boastfully
approached the morsel of food
“Manna” that had just appeared
in front of him
