Once a stick-bug
showed up on my screen door
It was startling to realize
this odd twig was alive
I felt fear
Yet, the stick-bug still greeted me
in his gentle stick-bug way
The Spirit in me
honors the Spirit in all living beings
In ceremony
the groundhog community
greets the new day
Each rising up
on their haunches
facing the rising sun
and singing the
Greet the Day Song
It is the favorite
ceremony of the day

Happy mid-winter, everyone! Spring is on its way.
How would it be
to look like a cartoon animal?
The manatee may know
although I bet he
never thinks about it
Manatee is just happy
to swim around looking sappy
and living the simple life
“Don’t get snagged for long,” she said
“on sharp little thoughts
Aggrieved or spent
In consternation’s path
For every pulled thread
Provides a God line
A reminder of our humanity
And still the weaving
Warp and weft
Continues to describe
The pattern of our lives.”
My creative Spirit has a query…
Who pulled the plug?
It seems the colors
all without pomp
or circumstance at all
simply drained out
Greyness, shades of greyness
and misty coldness midst the grey

It must be time for washing
bathe the palette properly now
And charge it up
with brand new colors
come Spring
