They were all excited
clucking and rushing
Each new rock or stump
as we turned them over anew
———————————————
Scraps are a treat…
but bugs and worms…
Yum!
——————————————-
In rubber galoshes
hoods cutting the mist
We fed the chickens
and hunted bugs
How could it get any better?
Standing on the pristine beach
where incessant nurturing waves
were cuddled by pink sky
And the sun and the moon
strove to attain equal status
A shift in her consciousness
just happened
Whereupon…
She instantly knew how
to listen with new ears
Seldom seen and often heard
My heart’s dreams
rose up like daffodils
at the sunrise of my life
It was ever surprising
on this most auspicious day
in a very ordinary kind of way
A once-in-a-lifetime occurrance
each new day
Huzzah!
Quivering leaves
hold still when I look
Cacophony of green
in patient waiting
for another breeze
So still,so quiet
midst the myriad sounds
Birds being birds
and squirrels playing tag
And people bustling
self-centeredly
With no time to notice
the beauty and calm
While waiting
for his back feet to catch up
inchworm contemplated
enjoying the moment
such a zen life

There is an eternity
in each and every

a lifetime
in the blink of an eye
