In the Forest

Oh, I do have fun with layers!

I started today with a simple pen and ink drawing that I had scanned to put up for sale on Etsy.  I’ve decided to clear space for new work. That means freeing all of the old pieces that I never really showed anywhere to be out in the world, including sketches, studies, and other pieces that just struck me enough to keep.

Ambiguous Marks

Today I played with digitally combining a couple of my  paintings with one of my pencil drawings. One of the great things about creating in both traditional art media and digital is that it opens up a whole new layer of possibilities for play.  I have this huge original and unique treasure chest of art tools that is mine alone to pull out and use in photoshop or illustrator whenever I wish.  It is true abundance in action! I feel blessed.

These are the two paintings and the original drawing.

In the midst of change, choices mark the crossroads I have traversed.

I love working in these media as there is such depth to the color and the layers of richness. Also, the detail possible can be stunning. I was first introduced to them when scrutinizing the work of Susan Boulet. They seem to have been her most favored media. I find myself lapsing into their use every now and again, and honoring her Shaman Spirit with my own.
