Bee Balm

Upon the curved lip
of turgid, achingly beautiful petals
the bee treads with loving feet
Drinking in the sweet nectar
of life’s full sustenance
gifting pollen in his wake
How blessed we are
by their sharing
Thriving on the fruits

of their loving labor

Pumpkins

Pumpkin…
Ever think what a strange word that is?
Pumpkin on the step
Pumpkin on the table
Pumpkin in a cookie
Pumpkin in a pie
But, not pumpkin
In my eye, please
And, no pumpkin mask
‘cause all that icky, hairy stuff and smell

Eeeyuuu!

Other Side of Fright

The hounds howled
as he passed
in the night
Nearly on tiptoe
slyly slinking
toward his light
on the other side of fright

“Whatever it takes,” his new motto…

Favorites

I surround myself with favorites
All that I relish
All that nourishes my spirit
All that empowers my strengths
I am filled with love
my heart embraced in sweetness
Joy overflows
loved ones all around
○ ○ ○
I release broken dreams
and old painful interpretations
of stories misunderstood
Opening to even more favorites
And, thus, I thrive

I Am Awake

Ever notice
how much more awake
you are, upon awakening —
Rather like waking up!
The snake,
she woke up one day
Raising up to
the full height of her spine
“Ah, I am awake,”

she hissed peacefully

String of Days

Abandon not
your hopes of far reaches
In the day to day
keeping up of things
For each day, you can begin again
The happy striving
And begin again and again…
until before long, you’ll have a string of days

of hope and happiness
